Improving Flaccidity – Collagen Stimulators

From the age of 25 the production of collagen and elastin begins to decrease. External factors such as solar radiation, inappropriate food, tobacco, stress, pollution, etc. contribute negatively over time, which causes a weakening of the supporting structures, such as decreased bone tissue, increased laxity of the musculature, falling or sliding of fat and thinning of the skin, causing a loss of its containment capacity.

The evidence of facial flaccidity translates into a loss of definition of the oval shape of the face, appearance of bags on lower eyelids, lack of turgor and skin elasticity, appearance of capillaries and spots, pronunciation of the nasolabial and labiomentonian grooves.

ELLANSE® (POLICAPROLACTONE)

NITHYA® (COLLAGEN)

What is ELLANSE®?

ellanceEllance is a totally absorbable, collagen biostimulating gel. It is composed of soft microspheres of polycaprolactone (PLC) and the carrier gel Carboxymethylcellulose compound (CMC). Both materials have been tested and used as the main components of other materials used in medicine and surgery, such as absorbable stitches made from PCL. It is an absorbable gel used to restructure the tissue giving it elasticity and turgor.

It has a European approval (CE Certificate) and the United States (FDA).

How does it work?

Once injected, the carrier gel (MC) is gradually reabsorbed after about 5 or 6 weeks. During this time, the PCL spheres stimulate the formation of new collagen by replacing the volume that has been reabsorbed.

For this reason, after the session there is a “flash” effect that lasts approximately 1 month and a half. 2-3 weeks later this effect decreases, then reappears within 2-3 months of infiltration. When there is maximum stimulation of collagen, an improvement of the quality of the skin and also wrinkles can be seen.

This substance may be used as a facial volumizer if necessary, simply by changing the injection technique and the volume deposited.

For who is it recommended?

Men or women over 35 years old with signs of flaccidity or lack of skin turgor such as on the cheeks, cheekbones and sagging of the jowls.

People who need to reposition the volume of certain facial areas such as the chin, cheeks or cheekbones.

Mode of Application

Injected with fine needles or with a fine cannula (which prevents bruising and is less painful).

Although the treatment is practically painless, anesthetic cream is applied in the area to be treated half an hour before the session.

Depending on the condition of the skin initially, one or more separate sessions maybe needed over two months.

Post-treatment

Cold compresses will be applied immediately if necessary to the treated areas. Inflammation derived from the treatment is minimal, and only lasts a few hours, so that the next day you can continue normal daily activities.

In the case of a purple appearance, an arnica based cream will be applied. As always after an aesthetic treatment, exposure to the Sun should be avoided for the next 7-14 days.

What to expect from the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, a bit of swelling may occur, as well decreasing depth of wrinkles.

After a month and a half, there will be a significant decrease that will last approximately 3 weeks. After 2 months you will start to see the end result, although the stimulation of collagen continues up to a year of treatment.

Contraindications
  • Allergy to any of the compounds
  • Inflammation or infection in the area to be treated
  • Pregnant or during breastfeeding
  • Autoimmune diseases
What is nithya®?
It is a collagen powder that stimulates the formation of new collagen, giving luminosity to the skin.
How does it work?

The heterologous, lyophilized, sterilized collagen from which nithya® is composed, when injected into the skin in the form of micro-injections, stimulates the rapid formation of new collagen. You do not need a previous allergy test.

Mode of application

30 minutes after applying an anesthetic cream, the reconstitution procedure begins as Prhisma is applied by micro punctures to the area to be treaded, causing only mild discomfort.

Post-treatment

It is advisable to apply something cold to the area at the end of treatment.

You can apply make up at the end of treatment.

What to expect from the treatment?

It is advisable to do 2-3 sessions in a row (separated from each other by 15 days) to stimulate collagen as much as possible.

The skin looks brighter, lustrous and dense when the skin is stimulated by collagen, approximately 2 months after the session.

Contraindications
  • Inflammation or infection in the area to be treated
  • History of allergy to any of the compounds
  • Pregnant or during breastfeeding
  • Autoimmune diseases

Threads

These are very fine threads that are introduced by making a mesh which stimulate the formation of new collagen in the area, regenerating the skin.

Initially a flash effect disappears after 15 days. Improvement is seen during the month after the first session and is consolidated at 3 months.

What is it made of?

This thread is made of polydioxanone (PDO), a safe material used in cardiac surgery for many years. It is reabsorbed in approximately 6 months and the result lasts from 12 to 18 months.

How does it work?

A biological lifting effect is produced by the reaction to new collagen fiber formation around the inserted strands.

What is the procedure?

Initially, anesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated for 30 minutes. Insertion of the meshed threads to the location is relatively fast. Some 25-42 threads per patient. The procedure takes about 30 minutes approximately.

What are the results?

After treatment, a slight swelling and / or bruising will appear.

Post-treatment

  • Apply something cold to the area immediately after treatment for 10 minutes
  • Do not rub the area for 1 week
  • Avoid sun exposure for 15 days
  • No excessive movement for the 1st week

Transparent, absorbable threads with mini cones that allow tissue tightening are used.

What is the thread made of?

The thread is made of polylactic acid, with micro cones of lactic acid (82%) and glycolic acid (18%).

Polylactic acid (PLA), is a known polymer that has been used for years in various medical fields such as craniofacial surgery. It is totally absorbable and is especially biologically compatible with human tissue. In addition, it is well tolerated and does not require allergy testing.

The benefits of polylactic acid have been demonstrated in more than 20 clinical trials. Once the stitches are introduced, the polylactic acid acts on the subcutaneous tissue and stimulates the activation of fibroblasts and production of collagen. This activity, which lasts some time, helps to increase volume and restores the shape of the face gradually and naturally.

These components are completely reabsorbed: the cones between 8 and 12 months, and stitches after 18 to 24 months. The result last for more than a year.

How does it work?

It has 2 roles:

  • Discrete lifting effect: The cones allow the fabric to be manipulated by creating traction to redefine the area
  • Regenerating action: Polylactic acid stimulates the formation of new collagen that will densify tissue

What is the procedure?

The insertion of the threads is relatively simple and not very traumatic. The main part of the procedure is to redefine the area to get maximum results. Generally, depending on each patient, 2 threads are placed on each side of the face. Local anesthesia is applied to the points of entry and exit, then sterile threads are introduced. The procedure takes about 30 minutes.

What are the results?

After treatment, a slight swelling or purple colour may appear. These discomforts disappear within a few days after treatment.

Post-treatment

  • Apply ice or a cold towel in the treated areas immediately after the procedure for 5 or 10 minutes
  • Take anti-inflammatory drugs in case of pain (rare)
  • Keep your head elevated for the first 3 nights and sleep on your back (5 for nights)
  • Clean and dry the face gently without rubbing
  • Apply makeup, shave or wash your hair gently (5 days)
  • Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks
  • Avoid facials and aesthetic treatments for 3 weeks
  • Do not practice sports (mainly contact) for 3 weeks
  • Do not use saunas for 3 weeks
  • Do not go to the dentist for 3 weeks
  • Avoid excessive facial movements, particularly when chewing, speaking, and yawning, etc. for 3 weeks
